Both these views are based on the reproductive rights of parents. This paper aims to shed a new light on the two types of eugenics by taking account of the child’s right to an open future. First I illustrate that the forced sterilization of the past had an aspect of protecting children from disease or abuse that might be inflicted on them by their parents.
