According to Habermas, social modernization must not be reduced to the development of the cognitive capacity and the increasing instrumental use of natural/human resources; what is more, social modernization means the results of the moral, aesthetic and practical learning process. Habermas claims that our communicative action promotes differentiation of the value spheres so completely and irreversibly that their systems become separated from the Lebenswelt. This argument enables him not only to avoid the naive criticism of modern society, but also to derive the colonization-thesis from the economically and administratively ruled situation that can turn out to be pathological. I finally try to examine the reality of Habermas’ critical social theory from a modern perspective.}, title = {Rationalisierung und Kolonialisierung der Lebenswelt -Die Verdinglichungsthese heute}, volume = {16}, year = {2002} }
