Following an outline of tracking theory and related issues, the author describes how the administrative and teaching staff dealt with problems arising from a new four-level tracking system and initiated reforms. In examining the tracking system, the following questions were con-sidered: 1)Could our program justify retaining higher and/or lower levels? 2) Was the initial four-level tracking system appropriate for our students? After analyzing both quantitative and qualitative date over a period of two years, the four-level system was changed to a tow-level one in order to alleviate the problems associated with lower level placement.}, title = {To Track or Detrack -examination of a tracking system in an efl setting-}, volume = {16}, year = {2002} }
