 note = {P(論文), This short paper discusses the actual situation of freshman seminars in college education through the experience of "Japanese Expression" in Osaka International University. The course has three main themes: orientation for college life, training in basic learning skills, and orientation for social life after graduation. For the last three years I have been managing my course on the basis of two mottoes: "easy-going but high quality" concerning the choice of teaching materials and "emotional intelligence" concerning personal communication with students. Such seemingly contradictory ways of thinking are indispensable in experiments in freshman seminar education.},
