This paper is intended to refute thisview with the case of Eduard Wirth who headed all the medical staff in Auschwitz. First I would like to portray his checkered achievements in the camp. As ameticulous doctor dedicated to saving lives he crusaded against typhussuccessfully, interfered with gratuitous murders by other SS men, and amelioratedthe conditions of inmate patients. In the meantime, he performed selections andfatal medical experiments on Jewish inmates without embracing eliminationistantisemitism. Secondly I will examine the ideas underlying his criminal behavior toshow that they are not limited to Nazis but are present even today in the medicalprofession and in bioethics.}, pages = {31--45}, title = {アウシュヴィッツの医務長、エードゥアウト・ヴィルツをめぐって}, volume = {20}, year = {2006}, yomi = {シバサキ, マサコ} }
