| 内容記述 | Older adults generally have reduced functional fitness, including muscle strength, endurance and balance than young adults. Moreover, they have poorer cognitive functions. Therefore, it is very important to improve not only physical fitness but also cognitive functions for vitality aging in older adults. The purpose of this study was to investigate the intervention effects of e-sports on cognitive functioning in healthy older adults. The participants were six healthy older adults (75.3 ± 5.0 years). They performed an e-sports program for 90 min, 1 day a week, for 12 weeks. As an e-sports, we adopted “a rhythm drumming game using Japanese drums” because of older Japanese adults familiarity with it. Cognitive functions(Five- Cog. Test and Stroop test)were measured 2 times(first day session and 3 months after the initial session)in all the participants. Subjects showed improvement in performance on the motor task, position judgment task, word memory task and animal name imagination task. Moreover, subjects showed beneficial effects for the correct number in all the tasks of the Stroop test. This study suggests that e-sports have more beneficial effects on cognitive function in healthy older adults. |
