 note = {P(論文), Some books on politically correct phrases recommend that you use ‘homemaker’instead of ‘housewife.’  Do people follow the guidance?  It is the main concern ofthis paper.  Some newspapers and magazines stored in LexisNexis database areexamined to see how much the two terms are used.  This paper reveals thesituation ‘housewife’ and ‘homemaker’ are actually used in the media.
　Back in the 1970s and 1980s ‘housewife’ was a common word but ‘homemaker’was a rather rare word.  There is a tendency now in the US media to use more‘homemaker’ than ‘housewife’ probably because they are influenced by themovement to get rid of sexist language.  How much ‘homemaker’ is used, however, is different from media to media.
　In the media in the UK, ‘housewife’ appears far more often than ‘homemaker.’  Itseems that they do not try to use the word ‘homemaker’ in place of ‘housewife.’},
