There were 361 undergraduate participants of whom 195 were female and 166 male. Major findings were that: 1) The common stereotype that males areassailants and that women are victims is incorrect. 2) Social factors and specialprivileges were high in the cases both victims and assailants of date violence. 3)With male assailants, there was a high rate of sexual assaut and coercion, and almost30% of male victims had suffered physical attack. 4) It was established that somepeople are both victims and perpetrators of date violence.5) Male assailantsshowed a strong gender role and male victims suffered from low self-esteem.  Overall, men, both victims and assailants, had little knowledge about dateviolence.
